"Cool tattoos ain't cheap, cheap tattoos ain't cool."
Whether it's your first time going into the tattoo parlor or you're a seasoned pro, there is always one thing you should remember about your tattoo. Your tattoo is meant to be seen. Although they are meant to be shown, tattoos also are a very personal thing. You can have a tattoo to show it to the world or to just a little few, it doesn't matter, they are meant to be seen.
That's why you want to have the best tattoo out there, you want to beat the competition and have a tattoo that has meaning to you and also looks good. As any kind of drawing a tattoo is a form of art and it should be seen as what it is. Therefore to have the best tattoo, you need to go to the best artist out there. It's common sense. Although determining the best artist is a very subjective thing, the truth is there are better artists than others, it all depends on what you want to have on your skin.
The reputation of the tattoo artist as a sanitary person and the cleanliness of the tattoo parlor is the most important thing to know before having your tattoo done. Unless you're a hardcore tattoo fan, you want to have your tattoos in a clean and sanitary area, with new needles and unused ink. Remember that you're wounding your skin and by tattooing you run the same chances as a heroin addict who exchanges needles, so make sure you are being tattooed with new needles and ink.
When you have done your research on this, the next thing to look is what you want to have on your skin. There is a plethora of tattoo designs out there, butterflies, stars, anchors, flags, jokers and dragons all have their fans. Tribal designs are the most popular, maybe because the power they project. Make sure you know all about tattoo concepts, such as tribal, Japanese or old school, and once you stick with the same theme.
My last advice is to not go to cheap artists or with free designs found on the internet. Choose wisely your design and you will be proud of your tattoo for years to come.
