These small ink particles are then tiny enough to be carried away and eliminated naturally as bodily waste. Darker ink colors are easier to remove with laser than pigments that are close in color to natural skin tones, as there is more contrast for lasers to effectively target with dark colors against skin.
More intricate tattoo designs, multiple colors, area of skin coverage, and location of tattoo ink skin are all factors that can make removing tattoos with lasers more difficult. Amateur tattoo artists are known not properly injecting ink deep enough, thus ink is closer to the skin's surface. Ink closer to the skin's surface makes amateur tattoos fade naturally from sun and environmental exposure, as well as easier tattoos to remove with lasers compared to deep professional ink work.
